Crocodiles began to live on Earth about 37 million years ago. To modern humans, it is tantamount to a living, breathing dinosaur. Crocodiles, can only be found in America, Mexico, and China. Their name comes from Spanish explorers who first saw the alligator on an expedition to Florida. They called it el lagarto(the lizard) which was later anglicized to alligator.
The average lifespan of an alligator has never been measured. Scientists don't know how long these fantastic creatures can live. The oldest one recorded lived to be 84. They are one of the fiercest predators, disguising as a log and hiding in wetlands, waiting for their prey to come close enough to ambush them. Their jaws are powerful. But they’re timid of humans and are more likely to leave than to attack when they see one.
We used this ancient and primal creature's skull as the inspiration for this unique silver pendant. We hand-carved the eye of Horus (The Egyptian eye of all knowledge, meant to be a form of protection) onto the piece giving it a little more complexity and adding another layer of significance. It’s the perfect artwork for those who like having a story behind their accessories.
