The puffer fish, also known as a blow fish, are so named because they blow up into a large ball when they feel threatened by quickly swallowing water or air. The effect makes the puffer fish look like a very angry balloon. They make a suckling type noise while this is happening. It’s the noise of them swallowing more bursts of water or air to maintain puffiness.
Instead of having regular teeth like most fish, the puffer fish has a beak like an octopus that they use to bite large chunks out of other fish and break the shells of crabs. Some even have spines on their skin to ward off predators. Most of the puffer fish contain a toxic substance on their skin to also help ward off predators. It makes them taste bad and is very deadly.
